The Pheu Thai Party is urging the Constitutional Court to delay its verdict on the suspension of Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra due to a leaked phone call with Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen.

The party argues that pressing national issues like border crises and tariffs demand a decisive leader, not an acting one. They propose a six-month postponement until these matters are stabilised.

PHeu Thai list MP Cherdchai Tantisirin emphasised that the current challenges facing the country require Paetongtarn’s leadership. HHe hinted that if the court rules against her, Chaikasem Nitisiri is prepared to step up with the party’s support. If obstacles arise regarding his nomination, dissolving parliament remains a final resort.

As political tension escalated, Paetongtarn participated in a merit-making event at Sanam Luang to mark Queen Sirikit’s birthday. Facing the press, she expressed affection but stayed tight-lipped about any resignation rumours that might precede the court's decision.

Tourism and Sports Minister Sorawong Thienthong, also Pheu Thai's secretary-general, dismissed rumours of Paetongtarn's resignation following the 2026 budget passage, reported the Bangkok Post

Earlier, her suspension was triggered by a court petition from 36 senators over the leaked conversation. She affirmed the call’s authenticity but maintained it was a diplomatic effort for peace and sovereignty.

The Constitutional Court granted Paetongtarn until August 4 to submit her final defence, following a narrow 5–4 vote in favour of the deferment. Yet, the looming decision keeps Thailand’s political scene on edge, with the possibility of significant shifts on the horizon.

This has to be a joke, there is only one person who wants to delay as long as possible in order to keep a foothold in the government & we all know who this is - The puppet master himself ....LOL

Just the opposite must be done.. This woman is totally uncapable of leading the country, and is used by her father for their own good. Remove her as soon as possible and with new election Thailand has a chance to go forward again. With Pheu Thai and cronies the country doesn't achieve anything. Of course in the budget bill of 2026 there will be things that benefit this family and friends and this must be passed by them, so dissolving the parliament will be a problem for these people, but it is time that the Government start working for the Thai people instead of filling their own pockets

Is Thaksin no longer the leader.?.🤔

Well I'm just hoping the current government lasts long enough for them to reverse the taxation policy with this new Royal Decree which is supposed to be coming before the leftist / socialists get into power which I see as kind of inevitable.

So, careful what you wish for.

These are the acts of a truly desperate party attempting to cling to leadership, despite the fact that they've lost nearly all support, and even Thaksin's former supporters have abandon him. He's truly a simpleton in the wilderness at this point, and his arrogance prevents him from seeing that.

They have been banished, and his relevance is completely gone, and in the rear view mirror. See ya!

BREAKING - The Constitutional Court has scheduled hearings for the case challenging Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra's status over audio clips of conversations with Cambodian leader Hun Sen. The court will vote on Friday, August 29 at 9:30 AM, with the verdict announced at 3:00 PM on the Constitutional Court's third floor.
