September 22, 200817 yr Hi guys, my wife is coming to join me in England with a 6 months Eaa family permit ( I am an Italian citizen living and working in London). We will be applying for a 5 years Resident Permit when she gets here and I wanted to know if, once obtained the Resident Permit, we will be able to travel to Italy without a Scenghen Visa. We will be traveling together and my wife has now my surname on her passport... Thank you.... Daniele
September 22, 200817 yr That your wife will have a residence card for the UK should be sufficient for her to travel to Italy without a visa. From the website of the Italian consulate in Manchester:- PLEASE NOTE: The EU Directive 2004/38/CE has been implemented in Italy. Therefore, for family members of EU citizens who do not have the nationality of a Member State, but have the NEW residence permits issued by the British Home Office bearing the following wording: RESIDENCE DOCUMENTATION"Type of Document: Residence Card of a Family Member of an EEA National" will NOT require a Schenghen Visa for a short stay (up to 90 days). Scouse.
