With a one year Non-Imm O issued in Australia you can get nearly an extra 3 months if you do a border crossing just before it expires.

Question .. can a 3 month non-imm O issued in Vientienne be extended for the extra period if you do a border hop prior to it expires.??

You mean a single entry? The answer is no. You can only knock on the door of Thailand and ask for permission to stay one time, that is way it is refered to as a single entry.

A multiple entry means you can knock on the door an unlimited number of times within the frame of on year. That is why you can extend it by goinmg over the border and come back just before the visa expires. You are then already in the country when it expires and can stay till the date you are permitted to stay.

Edit:

On a single entry you can get an extension of 7 days max in country at immigration. Be sure to have a ticket out in those 7 days.

Darn,!! another bright idea down the gurgler,, unless I suppose they would issue ,say a double entry visa. I suppose its worth asking,, can only get a knock back.

It should be possible. Some members have reported getting a non-O visa valid for only two or three entries when they applied for a multiple-entry. Therefore, applying for a non-O for two entries should be possible and the visa fee should be only double of the fee for the single-entry non-O.

The only change I have noticed on Hull's website is that tourist visas are now a maximum of 3 rather than 4 previously.

I have never heard about anything other than a single or multiple entry non imm visa. Then again, we debate endlessly about different countries and consulates interpretations of what must be a single piece of standard legislation.

If it is a Single Entry then the answer is NO.

You will get a 30 Visa Exempt stamp when you return.
