September 24, 200817 yr I would like to download some software to my Apple Mac, but due to my slow dial up internet connection it would take a long time to download ( 300 MB ) I am just wondering if I take a USB Thumb drive to my local internet shop that has an ADSL connection, could I download this Mac software using one of the shops PC's , on to my USB thumb drive? and then when I get home transfer the downloaded software to the Mac, The USB thumb drive is formatted in MS-DOS ( FAT 16 ) and I am wondering if the software thats been downloaded from a PC on to my USB thumb drive would be recognized by my Mac. any thoughts welcome

Just download and copy the file to an USB Stick and after that to an Mac. The newer Mac's even reading FAT32 and NTFS drives! Cheers.
September 24, 200817 yr . Using a USB stick to transfer software is a fine idea. I do exactly that when need to move files between friend's PC and my Mac . But another method may be more convenient: use a download accelerator program. Even with a slow or unreliable connection, the downloader will make maximum use of the bandwidth you do have. And if your connection drops, the downloader will pick up again where it was dropped, without having to go back to the start. The downloader I use is "DownThemAll", an add-on to Firefox. It's free. Very handy for anyone with a slow, Internet connection. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/201 - Oneman Chiangmai Edited September 24, 200817 yr by Oneman
