This might seem a little obscure, but I will go ahead. I will be applying for a non immi type B back in the UK in December. My passport is valid for a further 7 years, but only has 4 empty pages left. I shouldn't imagine that this will be a problem, but I wondered if anybody has encountered any issues with there not being enough space left in the passport or a minimum number of blank pages required.

By the way, there is some other blank spaces, but only 4 blank pages.

In previous times, the uk consular in bangkok would add new pages to your exisiting passport. Nowadays you have to apply fo a new passport once all the pages are full. Uk / Euope want everyone using the new format passport with computer chips and what have you. So get the visa and then apply for a new passport when the pages are all full.

I had to do this last year.

Tip: Get a 52/56 page? passport next time.

I lost half my messgage there. :o

Will be no problems in applying for a visa if you have one free page on your passport and it is valid for the next 6 months.

But once your pages run out will have to get a new passport.

If you intend to apply for 1 year Non-B and plan to stay here for 15 months you'll probably run out of pages.

1 page for visa, three left for stamps in and out of the country and neighboring countries every tree months.

That means 18 stamps on 3 pages, not going to fit.

Do not worry.

If you do run out of space, the embassy in Bangkok will issue you a new passport

and Immigration will transfer your current entry stamp to the new passport.

You will still be able to use the visa, even if it is in the old passport.

Yes, but alot of traveling if you don't stay in Bangkok.

Get a new passport in UK now to be safe.

I looked at this when I was in the UK last year.

It seems to take one month to get a new passport in the UK,

and only one week in Bangkok.

10 working days in BKK on average.

In the UK, you used to be able to fast track a passport, and get it in 2 days if you were prepared to pay for it, dont know what its like now

Digging a little. There is a fast track service in the UK.

The same day service costs £123

The one week service costs £105

This still makes it cheaper than the £144.00 charged by the British Embassy.

I stand corrected.

All prices are for the 48 page, Jumbo version.

Astral, i may be wrong on this but think the service costs quoted are in addtion to the cost of the passport, therefore would be paying 144 quid for the passport plus 123 quid for the fast track service, only have had to do this once many years (2 day renewal) and seem to remember the total cost being pretty close to being virtually double price of renewing a passport the normal way.

Lets face it HM civil service doesnt do anybody any favours, and the fact that fast tracking a passport would be seen as a favour in their eyes, they will charge accordingly. If this is the case the BE in BKK is far cheaper
