Getting A Visa

Featured Replies

Just got turned down for applying for a tourist visa to america for my thai GF....

Now wondering if it is possible to apply for a visa to america from another country like china....

In other words.. is it possible that she may get a visa from an american embassy in china, to go to america?

Just an idea..

Does she live in China?

I tried this once way back in 1984 to try and 'fast-track' my then wife's visa application while I was working in China, she was in Bangkok and due to head to the US at very short notice. The US Consular people in Beijing politely returned her passport and application to me, mentioning that since there was no evidence of Chinese entry stamps, she must not be in China so couldn't get a visa. She eventually applied in Bangkok with one of my buddies pretending to be my boss and walking through the application with her and she got the visa in time to fly with me.

After 9/11 and the subsequent actions of the Department of Homeland Paranoia and the reshuffled US Immigration agencies suggest that they would probably be much less polite if you tried the same scam these days.

A person can apply for US visa in country where they are resident, even if they are not citizens. After 9/11 all applcants are required to have an interview, which was not requried before then. My wife's first visa (from Bangkok) was given without an interview.

I have been in the same situation you are in now both with my wife as a girl friend and as a wife, About five times total until my wefe said enough is enough and we gave up. I was working in the states and even got a congressman envolved after we got married. Unless you can show some very very solid evidence that she has a reason to come back they will continue to say no. The last time we had proof of owning two huses, land and it still wasn't enough. Nothing seemed to help. I personally believe that after turning somebody down once they will never say yes unless there is some kind dramatice difference in the evidence.

I know this won't help you feel any better but at least you know that somebody else has had the same problem.

As previous posters have said she can't apply any where else than here.
