Chumphon / Saam Tien

Featured Replies

Does anyone know anything about Saam Tien? It is near Tung Wa Laen, about 10 minutes away by car. I am wondering if there are bungalows there?

Hi I think you mean Thung Wha Laen beach about 14 km north of Chumphon. It is a beautiful 2 km stretch of beach with some wonderful beach resteraunts and bars and still some cheap acom. You must check out the Mali blues bar if you go. right on the beach and the guy plays the most amazig guitar. At the south end of the beach you have the Cabana resort which is nice but in my opinion a little overpriced. It also has some amazing diving as well. For me it is one of the jewels of Thailand. Below is a picture taken around 2 in the afternoon. As you can see most afternoons you can virtually have the beach to yourself. Good for swimming with a nice sloping sand. Its very popular with Thais at the weekend. :o

Saam tien??? Three something?

Saphlee is the village 3kms North of Thung Wua Laen.

Lived at the beach for 4 years, nice place as mentioned by H2O

The Cabana has nice gardens/swimming pool, but the rooms: oh gush, I would suggest a re-build.

Many bungalow parks an decent restaurants along the beach.

Saam Tien is 10 minutes away from Thung Wa Laen. It is a beach on a different bay.

10 min from TWL?

North towards Pa Thiu, go right iso left Pa Thui (direction closed airport) there is a muddy shallow beach, no bungalows to my knowledge.

Further North you will find a pier who supposedly should have boats to Kho Thao, maybe in 2012?

Then at level of the airport there is a huge shallow bay with some bungalows, that would be 30+kms North of TWL.

Further North again you can find Coral Beach, someone planned to build a bungalow park with hotel, restaurant and mini swimming pool.

Went there once a month to swim, relax and eat food, yeah, something you can not find at TWL :o

South from TWL same shallow bays, some 10kms there is a bridge over the bay and some 2kms to your right you will find bungalows/restaurant on a rocky area, no beach so to speak. Drive further and you will reach Pak nam river, no crossing with car possible.

South of Chumpon you will find Hat Sairee, but that's not what you're looking for. Many bungalows on the road to Hat Sairee though.
