Hi there

I was thinking of buying a Nokia E 51, but it seems that it is difficult to find one now. (several shop mentioned that they don't have anymore)

Is there any Nokia that can offer similar features at a similar price ? Thanks

I for one couldn't recommend anything from the Nokia E line, assuming they are all Symbian and like the E65 I had for a few month. It was full of bugs, software updates and fixes from Nokia were slow to come. The phone crashed constantly and it's much-hyped WiFi function was practically useless. Menus were arcane and non-intuitive. Finally, I was doing a recommended firmware update using Nokia's online updater. The firmware update stalled, the phone locked up, and yes, it was bricked. I managed to get it re-flashed at MBK, but of course lost everything that was on it.

That was the last straw. I gave it away to a friend's daughter, rather than accept money from anyone for something that I was certain would be a complete headache.

Gee Bubba, my E51 works great. It worked great before I downloaded the latest firmware. It was a large update but it worked fine. I have no idea what it did because I couldn't tell any difference from before.

I've had an E61i for about a year now...and mine works great here in LOS...

It has wi-fi, which works perfect with my wireless router at home... full keyboard... large and clear color screen... good sound and call quality.... bluetooth as well... Video with sound and stills photo camera, music player. Etc etc etc... No radio or photo flash on this model.

Because the future of real 3G in Thailand is so speculative and uncertain, one of my priorities for getting a new phone was to have wi-fi...because that is real and already here to stay. Somewhat to my surprise when I was shopping, many phones were 3G capable, but relative few had wi-fi. So that and the full keyboard and broad feature set swayed my decision.

I've used the Nokia software update site/function a couple of times with no problem.

The only downside with the E series, I would agree, is the menu system takes some getting used to, and some functions you have to go down levels to access. But once you get used to using it, it's no sweat...

Last time I checked, the Nokia shop on the 3rd floor of Siam Paragon was carrying pretty much their full line, but obviously, at full prices. I bought mine in the U.S. for about $350, and paid probably half what I would have paid here in Thailand.

Nokia does have the new E71 out, but I'll admit, I haven't been paying attention to the reviews/comments because I'm already settled phone-wise.
