Has anyone been through the LCC Terminal at KL International Airport? I will be heading that way mid October and have never used this terminal, so wanted to know whether a transit bus was available to get across to the Express Rail Station or are there Taxi's/buses direct to KL?

There are regular buses to the city for about 8-10R. You can buy tickets from booths just as you exit arrivals. They are 2 companies, yellow and red - same same. They terminate at the main railway station, which is where you can get the BTS type equivalent thing to your destination. Takes a little over an hour and is comfortable enough, although you may have to wait a while until they fill the bus.

There is a shuttle bus between the 2 terminals, but the hassle of moving across may negate any time saving using the train.

Buses and train terminate at Sentral.

NEVER take the airport train (35RM) if you are going to/from LCCT (AirAsia mostly & Tiger Airways) and KL city. From KLIA you will need to catch a shuttle (1.50RM, don't let the drive cheat you) to/from LCCT. It is a 10 min drive plus maybe 20 min waiting for the bus.

2 bus companies Skybus (9RM, offical AirAsia bus) and Aerobus (8RM, compete on price) compete for the same business. They leave half hourly to and from LCCT and KL Sentral. Journey time 75 min. I usually skip the booth and buy the ticket on the bus (same price), so that I can see which bus is leaving first, and jump on that one. Both depart & arrive at exactly the same stop, so they are almost killing each other trying to get you into their buses.

There is also Star Coach which takes you straight to your hotel for 15RM. Departure is when they are full, or when they feel like it. You could wait up to 1 hr. They have a booth at the arrival hall too. If you are luckly, you hotel is early on the drop off route. Else expect an additional hour city drive around tour, especially if the traffic is heavy. Typically, other than Jalan Ipon (their office) & Chinatown (Puduraya bus terminal), they will drop off passenger in about 7 to 8 hotels per trip.

Budget taxi is about 70 to 80 RM, pay at the counter (not driver).

no need for that, as SAMGROWTH pretty much said what has to be said.

just an addition: since a few months, there is a nice and inexpensive foodcourt at the LCCT. when u leave the terminal building, turn left and walk about 150 meters or so. its a one-storey building. there were few customers when I was there (though that was just a few weeks after opening and probably most people still didnt know about it) and inexpensive food, which on the downside was not overly impressing. but as I said, that was just short time after they had opened (could still smell the fresh paint) and even not all stalls had been occupied by hawkers yet.

oh and one more: after getting off the Bus at KL Sentral, go to the Taxi counter to buy a prepaid-fixed-rate voucher for an economy taxi. thats usually 9-10 RM to any downtown destination, plus 1 RM if you have a big bag. Do avoid all those nasty touts who will approach you quickly. the LCCT-Bus-stop at KL Sentral is a very unpleasant, narrow, hot and humid area, full of exhumes, but unfortunately there seems to be no other location where those buses can stop and depart.

MacDonald & Asian kitchen are the only 2 in the LCCT terminal (land-side). Both are always jam pack. Asian kitchen is also over price, and limited choice. There is a coffee shop with sandwich in the air-side.

The foodcourt on the left (as you exit), pass the bus stop, is known as FOOD GARDEN. All the stores are already open. The food are typical Malay, Indian and Chinese food found in normal foodcourt in KL. Price is very reasonable (for an airport). A new KFC has open there too. This foodcourt is alway ultra clean, well lit, and never crowed. I always kill time here.

The new international arrival hall is now open. It is just beside the old one. Very big with lots of immigration counters.
