falkenbach
Hi! Is there any kind of treatment for Parkinson disease in Thailand? If so, what kind of pricing to expect and what you can recommend?
Sheryl
ÿes, treatment is available. Here as eslewhere it consists of medication. In very severe cases surgical implantation of a device ("deep brain stimulation"). I can recommend Dr. Apichart at Bangkok Hospital for this, details below.l: Dr. Apichart Cost will be just consultation fee (figure around 700 - 1000 baht a visit) and the meds. the costs of those vary depending on the drug used. The newer drugs are foreign imports and costly. If cost is a constraint discuss frankly with the doctor what the costs and advabtages/disadvantages of various drug regimens are. If seriously short of cash, Siriraj Hospital (government hospital) has a specialized clinic for patients with movement disorders like Parkinsons (which Dr. Apichart heads) , but waits will be long and the bureaucracy a bit daunting if you don't speak Thai.
