Does anyone know if there are Geraniums available in Thailand? I've looked in many plant markets in Chiang Mai but have never seen them. Would they grow in this climate?

Thanks.

I can't see why they wouldn't grow in your area. They're as tough as weeds. They're available as I've seen them growing in Issan villages.

It's too hot and wet for geraniums now. You may find them in January.

they like mediterranean type climate and bloom best w/o too much water and they love sun and poor soil probably alkaline. my husband loves to water our garden and we are now on water rationing for gardening and agriculture, so now finely water once weekly and the geraniums are finally blooming and not growing leaves and branches. geraniums are our flower of choice around here as are very cheap and survive in anything from olive tins to thrown out toilet bowls.

actually spent money on buying some types that are hard to root on their own: what we call french geraniums , they have a very fine double layered bloom. of course the oness we spent money on died of over fertilizing (chicken shit organic compost) and over watering. the cheapy freebies that we take from pieces fo friends plants survive anything. anon says, why waste money on buying flowers u cant eat them anyway.

Go to Pattaya, lots of Germans there. :o

I have no desire to ever go to Pattaya. Nothing against Germans of course, since I'm 1/2 German. :D

no, im in the mediterranean....

and husband never saw geraniums til he got here; i just assume that its not a tropical plant, it does well in arid alkaline soil with lots of sun...

why dont u go for the climate type plants... if i had a choice iw would prefer the thai tropicals over the mediteranean scrubby type stuff we grow here (cactus and any plant that has thorns and little leaves)...
