I'm an American who has lived in Thailand since the end of the war in Vietnam.

I had a hard time getting registered here (at Thai Forum) and am not certain this message will be posted.

I have dollars in three American banks: Bank of America, Sovereign and Wachovia.

Eventually I will probably want to transfer a chunk of dollars totalling Bt800,000.

But not now. All I need now is to get Bt10,000 every 4 to 6 weeks.

Banks here are Bangkok Bank, Kasikorn and Ayudhya.

I have an ATM card for Sovereign and a debit card from Wachovia.

Will any of the three Thai banks allow me to get more than Bt10,000 on one ATM transfer?

Does an American bank card that calls itself an ATM card have the same fees as one that calls itself a debit/check card?

This is enough to get me started,
