Not seen anything on Television.

When someone in royal family dies it's the top story.

And the mourning never start one month after the death.

There were three days of mourning after the Kings mother died about 12 years ago. I'd just arrived in Bangkok for the first time on the day she died and all the bars closed for three nights.

I did find a drink in Soi Cowboy though.

Strangely enough when I went to the Golden Palace as a tourist back then it was closed - for real, and after about 10 minutes of being there I saw the King pass in a motorcade as he arrived to see his mother in state at the palace, that's the way it was explained to me at the time anyway.

It was a strange site seeing the hundreds of Thais lining the street waiing the King as he went past in his car.

From what I have read, the final ceremony is set for 6 days in November starting the 14th and as far as I am aware no official announcements have yet been made as to alcohol sales.

If concerned you can keep up to date with Thai news on either the News Clippings forum or check out the National News Bureau's site as they will have the most up to date information about the funeral

This site also is quite informative about the funeral: http://www.soravij.com/galyani3.html
