Google Goggles Prevent Pissed Messages

By Mendelson Tiu | Wednesday | 08/10/2008

A new feature for Gmail prevents a user from sending desperate ‘I want you back’ e-mails to ex-boy/girlfriends after coming home drunk on a Friday or Saturday night.

According to Gmail Engineer, Jon Perlow, the Mail Goggles for Gmail will ‘check that you're really sure you want to send that late night Friday e-mail.' When enabled, users would have to solve a few math problems after to click send. This exercise is used to ‘verify' that you are in the right state of mind.

By default, Mail Goggles is only active late night on the weekend as that is the time you're most likely to need it. Once enabled, you can adjust when it's active in the General settings.

I've always wanted a breathalyser on my mobile phone to prevent this sort of thing

I have removed all european numbers on my mobile to avoid heavy costs. :o

Good idea.

Perhaps TV could incorporate such a thing also as I have often winced at the thought of my previous nights postings. Although that may eliminate some of the more humorous drunken posters.
