Ordering Online To Thailand

Featured Replies

I go through a lot of books that I order mainly from websites. Domestic shipping in the US is normally pretty cheap ($4 or so). Can I expect shipping to go up a lot for US books if I live in thailand?

I have ordered from Amazon before and it wasn't bad. The delivery was quick because they air freight them to another country and them mail them from there. Had some with Hong Kong post marks and others from Europe.

Hi Joe, have you ever had probs with Amazon not wanting to post to Thailand?

I have ordered some DVDs from amazon, usually take about 2-3 weeks and shipping cost about $10-$15 (i think).

About 50% of the time the DVDs get import tax assessed, which is about 40% or something.

The key is to go for regular air mail (UPS) rather than any other courier or expediated service. The couier services will hit you with tax on DVDs and often you have to go to the depot to pick them up.

All my books have arrived quite quickly from Amazon eBay etc.

You mean USPS? Because with UPS tax will likely be charged.

What's the tax on books then?

Cheers,

K.

Can't you just get a mate to buy them and ship them over to avoid tax ?

Thailand is a rarity to tax books / knowledge! :o
