Best Visa For Me

Featured Replies

Hi Im 21 and live in washington DC. My GF who was a Thai Aupair Just left the states to go back to

Thailand and now wants me to come live with her for a year or so. If I can, I want to quit my job and

move there and live off my savings. What is the best way to do this and what do I need to do to make it

happen.

Thanks

You can try and get a 1 year multiple entry non immigratnt o visa based upon visiting friends.

Or a 2 or 3 entry 60 tourist visa that can be extended for 30 days per entry.

Both of these visas will require making a border crossing and returning about every 90 days to get a new entry.

You will not be able to get a visa that allows you to stay the full year.

If you get a job, go to school or get married you could get a one year extension for either of these visas.

The following link will take you to the Thai embassy in DC if you use the pull down menu at top of page you will be able to select a list of honarary consulates. These are the best consulates to use when trying for the o visa mentioned. The DC conulate can be very uncooperative. You can find the requirements for each visa at this site also. The o visa catagory is a catch all catagory and includes visiting friends/family.

I doubt you'll find success in obtaining the 1 year non-immigrant O visa from any consulate, but if you do... let us know.

Yes. He may well struggle in U.S. Try and get as many tourist visa entries as you can.

It is quite easy to get more once in Thailand.

Are you sure you have enough savings to live on for a year, plus the airfare,

and money set aside for emergencies, like health issues?
