Discount For Extension Of Tr Visa ?

Featured Replies

My TR expires on 24/10 and I'm entitled to an extension of 30 days @ Suan Pluu by paying the usual 1,900 bht. The problem is I'm leaving Thailand for a short visit overseas on 27/10, so it will be a great waste if I do the usual 30-day extension.

Is there a shorter period of extension so that I pay less ?

No. All extensions are 1900 baht. You will have to take your loss.

All extensions are 1,900 Baht. Be it 7 days, 30 days, 60 days or 12 months.

Thairookie, you don’t say if you are from a country that entitles you to 30-day visa-exempt entry. Let’s assume you are and look at the two options you have. Let’s also assume that your short trip out of Thailand is from 27 – 30 of October.

1. 30-day extension and re-entry permit. Cost 1,900+1000 Baht, total 2,900 Baht. On your return to Thailand on 30 OCT 2008 you receive permission to stay until 23 NOV 2008.

2. 30-day extension only (to avoid overstay of three days). Cost 1,900 Baht. On your return to Thailand you receive a visa-exempt permission to stay for 30 days, ie if returning on 30 OCT 2008 your are permitted to stay until 29 NOV 2008.

Yes, I'm entitled to 30-day exemption. But my concern is not the length of stay, rather to save on the 1,900 baht since I'll only be using up to 3 days instead of the full 30-day extension. Kind of a waste.
