Any Linux Users In Koh Samui

Featured Replies

Just wondering if there are other people living on samui who are running linux on there computers. If so what has been your overall experience using it and which distro are you on. I've been on mandriva, ubuntu, OpenSuse. I know relearning a different OS has been a experience to me at least. Glad at least I found out about wget, youtube-dl, ffmpeg, vlc player and other applications. Also note getting wireless to work has by far been a pain in the butt.

I have an EEEPC and ran it under its original Linux dis since I got it back in May (2G surf). Although it never really gave me any problems, I grew tired of the onerous tasks of finding suitable drivers, programs, installation issues, etc. So I just recently formatted the drive and installed TINY XP. I have to say that it performs much better under this OS than it did under Linux. Faster to access programs, better video quality (although still not great), ease of installations, faster WiFi access, PnP for things like a Bluetooth dongle, etc.

I understand the whole Linux culture and I know why people go that route, but I just wanted my EEEPC to really be "easy" to use.
