Your Experience On Using Samsung Omnia / I900

Featured Replies

would like to know if you have this phone what has been your experience with it. Both good and bad would be appreciated on this matter, yes I know there is the Iphone alternative but I not interested in that phone.

I haven’t got one (yet!), but I reckon this is THE phone. I'm also not interested in the IPhone; it's useful to have a decent, extensible operating system on your device, and Windows 6.1 Pro that. Looks top quality, but the only way I can afford one is to dump the missus first ... hmmm ... look out darling ha ha!

I would go with the sony Experia X1 to be honest. feels a lot quicker than other Windows mobile 6.1 devices including the diamond and htc touch pro and omnia.

Mainly due to the fact that sony spent time on the drivers and utilising the dedicated graphics accelerator with dedicated memory where as HTC did not bother. Omnia has done it but the X1 just seems a lot snappier.

The x1 pre release models...were sluggish but sony got it right on the release software version

Xperia is a little bit bigger, heavier and and thicker than Omnia and touch wise you will need the stylus to operate it at times, but then again it does have a slide out keyboard.

Omnia is lighter, thinner and more pocket friendly, have a 5MP camera and is one of the speediest and easiest to use Windows Mobile phones out there right now, and it can be used completely without a stylus.

So as always there is no perfect phone for everyone, it all depends on individual priorities and budget ofcourse.

Here is a detailed comparazing test between Samsung Omnia, Iphone 3G and HTC Diamond which goes into most aspects of the 3 phones and how well they stack up against eachother.

The omnia is very nice agreed. And the X1 is slightly bigger but with the addition of a WVGA screen 800 x480 (twice the omnia res) looks stunning for videos etc. It is also the same res as the Touch HD from HTC. You can install for example Touchflo 3d or there onscreen keyboard from the Touch HD straight onto the X1.

Its a close call between the omnia but for me the keyboard and XVGA wins it.

Sony does have hel_l of a marketing power - Sony Experia X1 movie set in Bangkok:
