Walked through this area many a time, and never felt threatened in the slightest. I think it was alot worse a few decades ago. I'd be more scared walking through Chapel Town in Leeds, or Kings Cross in London at night.

I used to work at Esso(Exxon Mobil) port offices and felt threatened occasionally at night on the outskirts of the slum area, however it's not as dangerous as Leith when the pubs close.
