Anybody see todays internet Nation

THAI steward arrested for allegedly smuggling marijuana into Japan

A Thai Airways International steward has been arrested for allegedly attempting to smuggle marijuana worth 2.5 million yen into Japan, it was reported.

Kyodo News agency reported that Kirdtas Manus, 40, was arrested at the Narita Airport on August 28 after the drug was found hidden in trouser pockets of his uniform. The Nation

As that would be almost 900,000 baht , it would seem, to me, most unusual to have a bale of hay in ones pocket.

Is this a misprint or just another of fall down on the Proof reading that is now so common in The Nation, ..... At one time a very good newspaper, but now,,,,,,uggggg

Excuse Me Sir, Thats A Large Bulge In Your Pants :o

I think the Oz customs officers said the same to the Czech woman they stopped in Sydney on Wednesday.

Suspecting she was concealing something on her body, a female officer frisked her and found she was concealing three banana plants in her underpants. :D

Is that a joint in your pocket or are you pleased to see me?

Not necessarily a bale of hay though, depends on the street value of marijuana in Tokyo.

If a pocket full of marijuana fetches $26,000 in Japan i'm in the wrong business!

This has been news for awhile within the flight crew based out of BKK. The rumour had it that it was cocaine that he was carrying. We became aware something was wrong very quickly because for the last 6 weeks every flight from BKK - to NRT we are now body and bag checked, whereas before we are waived right through. This is only happening to BKK based flight crew.

As always, us Americans can usually outdo you Aussies (most of the time).... Here's a story where a guy in San Diego was busted recently for smuggling 6 lobsters in his pants: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27139637/?GT1=43001

You and me both! :D

Maybe the Nipponese cops are on the same deal as the BiB, a bonus of a set percentage of the street value of the seized dope.

Most guys have something in their pants that they are hoping someone will want to smoke.

That reminds me of this video that a friend sent me last week that I thought was a little strange (and humorous).... It's a video of a policeman patting down a suspect and finds something in his pants..... Need to turn up your audio and listen closely to get the gist of it.

Bangkok Post today confirms 620 grammes worth 2.5 million Yen (892,000 THB).

That's close on 1500 Baht a gramme! We are in the wrong business. :o

The article also states:-

Should a Japanese court find Mr Manus guilty, he will be dismissed from the company, according to THAI's rules and regulations.

I think getting dismissed from Thai airways will be the least of his worries.

Funny thingl

There is a thread a couple away from this one about promptness and Thais.

This article re the Thai Steward getting arrested in Japan with over 900,000 Baht worth of marijuana in his pockets, happened in the end of August. It is now 2 mnths later and it gets into both newspapers now ??? Talk about lack of Promptness

Sure hope nobody decides to nuke Thailand and we have to rely on the 2 papers to notify us.

But just let them try and delay the Thai Soap Opera TV Schedule 5555555

600 gram.='s 900,000 B ??? Well maybe it was Acapulco Gold and gold is going up you know.
