Penang

Where do I go to get a 12 month nonB multi now????

I have just returned from Penang after failing to get another 12 month nonB.

I work for the same company and have all the documents as before, only to be told on application"we dont issue 12 months anymore".

They took my money and said my application was subject to approval.

I got a 90 day single entry and I got some of my money back, the balance.

It's been a while that Penang consulate doesn't do 1 year visas.

You have to do it in KL.

Depends where you live in Thailand but for years I used the Thai Consulate Office in Savanakhet, Laos (cross the new bridge at Mukdahen). Very obliging and informed staff -- far better than any Imm Office staff I have met in Thailand. No probs getting my married man's years visa, Also far better than packed out Vientianne as you can talk one to one. Just call ahead and ask what papers they need from you.

Weren't there a few posts not so long ago saying that Penang were lightening up in issuing Non Imm multis?

Now, they aren't!!! :o

Not anymore that have become unfriendly. Stamp in passports telling people not to come back.

Turning down non-o's and giving tourist visas instead because they say you can only get one non immigrant visa a year.

Also long waits while they take care of Lao citizens first. Not nice at all.

In that case I'm happy no need to return there as I get my yearly renewed 300 meteres from my house.

For my extension I have to go a little farther (50K). I am happy also.

I presume that you have a valid work permit with a one year validity. If so the go to KL, if you have a long standing work permit (> 1 year) then in addition to the usual papers you will also need a special stamp from labour near to you latest WP permission stamp, this shows the remaining validity period (8-9 months). Check this link Work Permit - Magic Stamp for KL
