Non-imm. "o" Visa

I will renew my Non-Imm. "O" visa on Dec. 8, 2008 and need to get a letter from US Embassy Verifying my monthly income. Does anyone know how long before Dec. 8th I can get the letter and still be valid. For example, a medical certificate is only good if it less than 30 days old.

When you say renew your visa, do you mean that you will go to your local immigration to apply for an Extension of Permission to Stay?

I have heard the 30 day rule. To be safe I would say no more than a week before the day you plan on applying.

The consulate now has an online appointment system. It helps to have the appointment because you don't have to take a number. Plus it makes it easier to get past security.

It shouldn't take more than an hour to get the affidavit done.

If you are looking for an Extension then I think Joe meant to write 'no less than a week before' and normally you should go no more than a month before.
