Wrok Permit For Painting Your House?

Featured Replies

I heard a good one the other day.

Personally I can't quite believe it, but it may be true...

A Farang was taken to the Police Station (Pattaya) and arrested for painting the outside of his house. The house he had leased by way of a 30 year plus 30 year option.

The police gave the reason for his 'arrest' - He was doing a job that a Thai could be employed to do.

Ok. Farangs can not take part of this type of employment. But it is surely only a 'job' on private propety once a contract for the work is tendered.

To say that the work undertaken is for profitable gain is open to conjecture.

Most bizarre.

Anyone heard of anything like this before?

Indeed..most bizarre. :D

What about cooking your own meal ?....cleaning your own floor....cleaning your pool....removing weed from the garden....installing a new fan....

The next thing is they arrest you because of making love to your wife....could be ''done'' by a Thai too..... :D

TIT in the extreme. :o

Maybe it was a color the policeman didn't like. :o

I've been told that this can happen but haven't yet encountered any examples. Someone once warned me to pay a gardener rather than take care of the garden myself because I could be arrested. However, I do garden and, so far, have not been arrested.

Perhaps the police take no notice unless a neighbour with a grudge makes a complaint. Farang bar owners are particularly susceptible to this trick being played on them by competitors, I hear.

Yes that's how I saw it when first told... Urban Legend.
