After returning home from a 3 week trip I discovered that my internet had slowed to a crawl. Speed tests confirmed this with consistent marks in the 200/100kbps range. I have the SilverCyber package and got reliable speeds of 1300kbps, or more, before the trip. At first I figured it was probably just kids on school holidays sucking up the bandwidth but after a few days I got fed up and contacted TOT's call center. The told me they would forward the work ticket to the local branch and someone would contact me right away. I waited a couple of days and no one contacted me so I called back. They went through the same paces as the first time and then finally noticed that there was already an open complaint so they just told me that I had to wait. It's been over a week since then and still nothing. No call and no improvement at all.

I'm fed up with my super-slow internet AND TOT at this point and I'm even considering switching to TT&T (not that I really expect any improvement). So apart from calling the local TOT office directly, which I will do today, does any one have any advice or insight?

Here's the pudding:

I just posted this in another section

TOT have to be the worse people in the world to do business with. My phone was out for two months, every day I would call them every day they would tell me someone will be comming out the next day. Lies Lies Lies.... One time the guy on the phone started laughing then he set the phone down, then I could hear the word falng falang and about five people in the room would break out in laughter after about 30 seconds he hung up the phone. Their internet service was always slow except very early morning say about 3AM . Stay away from them at all cost. My location is Soi Khao Talo in Pattaya.

CAT is kinda pricy about 2600/month but I hear the service is pretty good and I also heard that if you have a problem that they will take care of it right away.

TT & T I have a friend that has their Max Net and he gets a good solid 3Mbps. I have heard some bad stories about them so it may be a hit and miss with them.

I personally use Banglamung CATV Internet service I guess it is actually Hi Net fron CAT. At first there were some problems but they worked on it and now it seems to be working pretty well. 1600 a month

TOT I guess would rather spend their money on new office buildings than buying bandwidth for their subscribers. I was so happy to walk into their new office and cancel my seervice, I had a grin on my face from ear to ear. The girl in the office did ask us why we were cancelling, she did'nt seem to suprised by our answer....

Actually the price for the 2M/1M premium package is now down to 1,890 Baht (+7% vat) from 2,600 Baht a few months ago.

And do I get value for money ? I mean, I have a TOT "gold"cyber package 2M/500+ but I am glad my 1 year contract is almost over. CAT also wants you to sign up for a one year contract ? It would be nice to have a 3 month trial period.

Guess they have so many websites they can't keep track of updating them properly :D

I can personally confirm it is now 2023 Baht/month as that is what I pay now. I did have to go into a CAT office and apply for the new price, don't do that and you'll be paying the higher price till eternity :D

I had exactly the same experience over an adsl problem. I wanted to crawl through the line and ring the guy's neck! :o

Since last week my speed (Cybegold) has gone down to 10% of the speed I used to have.

It seems there are peaks and lows in TOT's service. But overall I am satisfied.

Yep I agree sniffdog. For the last 6 weeks my TOT connection has been great. Now its the same as yours. The last time this happened my landlords son, who works for TOT, made enquiries and it would appear that the local infrastructure was at capacity and needed upgrading. This could only happen after a certain percentage of users over the optimum level for the particular area sign up ! Three weeks later it was super fast......now its back to square one.
