High Speed Internet In Rented Room

Featured Replies

I am working here and i have recently bought a laptop from Hongkong but i need to connect to the internet. Anyone know of any price plans with True Move or Dtac ? i heard they have some wireless surf unlimited at 1k baht /mth or does these apartments have internet conections ?

True has wifi points in several places, but AFAIK not in apartment blocks!

True move will only have GPRS, maybe Edge in certain area's.

Both Dtac and AIS have EDGE coverage all over Bangkok, but this is definitely not high speed. Between double and 4 times the speed of dial up. Still usable for a bit of surfing and e-mail.

Some apartments will have internet (both LAN and WIFI), but as it is mostly 1 single ADSL line shared all over the building you can't expect high speeds, and certainly not stable.

Your best bet would be to get your own ADSL line in, but you'll need a phone line, and lots of paperwork depending on provider (ISP)
