I would like to move to Taiwan for approximately 3-4 months on a tourist Visa. The way I understand it is that Taiwan offers at free 30 Day visa to Canadian citizen or one can apply for a 60 or 90 day visa in which you can get with or with out extension grants.

I went to apply for a 90 day visa in Ho Chi Minh city yesterday and it took about 5 hours, they had me fill out a mission statement stating why wanted to enter Taiwan for longer than 30 days, they went through all my entry/exit stamps in my passport and by the end of it was told I could get a 60 day visa with no extension at the cost of $50 USD. I would like to stay longer than 60 days, what are my options? Can I go there for 60 days on my Visa, fly off to the philipines or macau and get another 60 day visa?

What's the best way for me to go about this?

Second topic. I also have a thai national who would like to come visit me while I'm in Taiwan. What are the tourist visa requirements for a Thai national who wants to stay in Taiwan for less than 30 days.

You posted on the wrong forum. A mod will move it later.

I checked the following website and it looks like a Thai can get a visitor visa. This link will take you to that page. You can look around on this website for the Taiwan Bureau of Consular Affairs for your other questions also.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Sorry Joe, but he's Canadian.

I know that. Did you read the last line in his post?

Website that I gave you a link to is little hard to navigate. I found some useful information though to save you a little time trying to find it yourself.

List of consulate offices: http://www.boca.gov.tw/content.asp?mp=1&CuItem=2307

.

Holders of visas which are valid for 60 days and which do not bear “No extension will be granted” can directly apply for an extension of their visa at local service centers of the National Immigration Agency with the relevant documents.

Visa extension page: http://www.immigration.gov.tw/immig_eng/as...infor.asp?id=15

Reading this page it does not appear to be easy to get an extension. It has lots of requiremnets that I am not sure you can meet.
