The word for monkey in Teow Chao dialect is เก๊า - gaoH.

First of all, I apologize for the confusion. I meant to ask for the the thai-chinese word for monkey.

HaHa, one of my favourites;

ตา (dtaa) + ลิง (ling) = Darling.

If that's what she calls you, then you're doing okay.

Most farangs wouldn't notice when an Isaan woman instead says "daak ling" - which means "monkey's ass" in Lao.

It's an inside joke (and not uncommon, in certain venues)...

I'd heard (about) that but didn't catch that is was Lao and not Thai - thanks :o
