I am just wondering how many of you farangs (or Thais) out there currently living in LOS use a clothes dryer for their laundry. I mean the kind we are used to using back in our western countries such as a gas or electric model. (Sorry the sun does not count.)

I miss the softness and smell that a western style dryer provided. I mean it's not a fresh outdoor smell hanging on the clothesline here in LOS, more like burnt trash and plastic. Likewise having a bath towel that feels as pleasant as rubbing cardboard against the skin is not a good feeling.

One bright note of hanging clothes out to dry in the sun I think that the colors (especially jeans) do not fade as much especially if you are like my wife and I where we turn them inside-out before hanging.

Anyway, I just wondered how many has and uses a clothes dryer vs. hanging in the sun as well as any thoughts on the subject you may have.

Well, my first attempt at trying to setup a poll and obviously it didn't go as well as I was hoping... If there are any mods that can help with this please feel free to do so... I want to setup a poll to see how many folks living in LOS use a clothes dryer for doing laundry... Just looking for two choices:

Have

Don't have

Thanks in advance for any assistance provided.

We don't have a dryer. The Missus uses fabric softener (Comfort) in the final rinse (auto) which leaves a nice smell, then out on the balcony in the sunshine, towels are soft and fluffy :D

She then proceeds to starch my shirts rigid :o

I have a Toshiba dryer. Peace of useless crap if you ask me. the sun works well and free.

Probably not using it correctly !!!!!!!!

Hang clothes out in the sun, switch off unnecessary lights, adjust the aircon to 25 degs or get a fan, and don't leave electric stuff on standby Get a webcam rather than fly back to Euroland or US.

Electric clothes dryer in LOS you must be joking!

Drying clothes in the fresh air is no more an option for me here than it was in the US. If it's pollen, I'm allergic to it, and drying clothes in the nice fresh air leaves them laden with pollen. My nose and sinuses can tell. I use a Whirlpool dryer bought here and it works very well. I have a friend with an Electrolux that works equally well. It may be a waste of energy, but there aren't enough allergy meds I can take to make wearing clothes dried outdoors possible.

What I like about Thailand is that you can wash and dry a duvet all in the same day. Admittedly it may takes 5 or 6 hours with the fan blowing, but the high air temperature and - usually - low enough humidity makes it possible.
