Barack Obama Elected President Of USA

WOW! And you are representative of the nut-jobs that support Obama?

No, i'm just Anti-Bush. I hate democrats just as much as republicans. I even call them Republicrats and Demopublicans because it's all just POLARIZING BS. That's why you leapt at the chance to dog me out. You are just on one side, and don't see both. And that's the problem, and always will be.

There are just as manu nutjobs on each "side". But the founders meant the two party system to be COMPLEMENTARY, NOT DIVISIVE. The Socratic method of teaching and learning through debate is meant to expose insights, understand how each of us think.

Not to devolve into endless diatribe over nothing.

Jesse Jackson is an even worse KOOK than Sarah Palin. And, he dared to show up at the celebration after being caught on tape secretly muttering how he didn't like Obama, and thought someone should bring him down.

Fortunately millions of people decided I am more correct than you are.

And to the joker talking about Obama as Osama, -did you learn your logic from a gumball machine? Is the limit of your critical thought based on how words "kinda sound alike, and what sounds alike must be alike". A meeting with Al Queda? Nah, i'm actually not gonna both with you after all.

OBAMA WINS. THATS ENOUGH FOR ME. AND BILLIONS AROUND THE WORLD AGREE. IF YOU DISAGREE, THEN YOU ARE WITH BUSH, AND PART OF A VERY SMALL CONTINGENT AT THIS POINT. Good riddance.

And if they jump off a cliff tomorrow?

It wasn't a landslide, it was a decisive electorial mandate. But in terms of actual votes it is not a large victory.

Large victories would for example be Ronald Reagans re-election 1984, 58% vs 40%, or the re-election of Ike in 1956, 57% vs 42%.

Obama 349 electoral votes

McCain 161 electoral votes

Obama had twice the electoral votes as McCain - Slam Dunk of an election

Duhhhhh... How can they have had that many electoral votes when the electoral delegates do not even vote until 12/15/08? These are PREDICTED electoral votes... Maybe you should have a better understanding of the US Electoral College........ Electoral delegates usually do and pledge to vote per the popular vote, but they don't have to......

Well, and even while decisive in the predicted vote assignment, it was not quite so slam dunk in the popular vote. Still won, and I will give him that, but get it straight when you boast please.

What makes you think I'm 'boasting'? I am trying to educate you and most out there that don't really realize that he is not truly elected until the electoral vote happens and that is on 12/15/08. So tell me what makes you think I am 'boasting'? I would like to understand why you think this?

Again, not a landslide nor 'Slam Dunk' [sic]. I will presume you have some knowledge past elections. You might wanna look up for example 1984, Where every state but one voted for Ronald Reagan. That was a landslide.

Right terms at right times.

I take little to no interest in this.

But what I do enjoy is the thought of tens/hundreds of thousands of ignorants seething because they think that their new president is an Arabic Muslim Terrorist.

Well done Obama.

You mean "Obama" as in Barak Hussein Obama? Personally, I can't believe someone with that name was elected to the US presidency, just a few years after focusing all the anger and might of the USA's military on a murderous tyrant of nearly exactly the same name in Iraq. So much for being tainted by name-association. Or, maybe McCain's middle name was "Hitler" and we just elected the lesser of the evils? :D

The Hussein part sould familar. Is Obama also related to Saddam Hussein? :o:D:D

Can someone tell me why is this topic relevant to Thai Visa....its got nothing to do with Thailand......moderators?

It's already been discussed. Read the thread and you'll find out.

At a peak there were at least 600 people viewing this thread (now over 200) and as ThaiVisa sells advertising and sponsorship probably based on the number of page views and users, they'd be wise to let this run a bit longer.

In terms of EC votes it certainly is a slam-dunk ...

In terms of popular vote? Well, sadly popular vote means little in the USA due to the Electoral College system. If it did W wouldn't have ever been in office as he would have failed the first time.

The sad thing about America is that he'd probably have won if he hadn't tacked the little-tyke campaign-killer Palin. I know a lot of people who'd have been completely fine with an old white man just a year or two away from elevated chances of incontinence, dementia, and death. Scary.

From what I saw, two outstanding issues came into it. Palin, and the dramatic downturn in the markets. The financial problems hit and Obama walked away with the lead.

There are reports saying that when the dust settled both Biden and Palin made no difference at all. But I'm not so sure as I just can't believe Americans would vote in someone as stupid as Palin (tongue in cheek...)

I heard that 10% of americans think Obama is a Arab lol I hope that is not really true lol. I almost pissed my pants when I heard that

With a name like Barak Hussein Obama and who went to school as a kid in the world's largest muslim country I'm surprised it isn't over 50%.

I wonder what %age of the Middle East think he is or was muslim?

I went two years at an international school in Jakarta, that is making me a muslim?!?

No. But obviously it didn't do much for your reading comprehension. :o

Actually I apologize to you. The comment was not directed at you for boasting on the predictive count. It was directed at the other for thinking slam dunk in an electoral count is a slam dunk election.

Gives the PC of the world their day in the sun! And us a chance for us to tell them that when the rhetoric finishes, he/they have a job to do that is beyond them! :o

Well beyond them.

A lot of money will come/stay here thanks to this new socialist republic. Like most empires, they destroy theirselves from within eventually! Pass me the fiddle.

Mind you, a lot on the left will have to live with one less chip on their sholders now. A whole raft of "equal rights" lobbyists and lawyers will be on their way to the dole queue.

So if Obama fails to live up to the CHANGE, and does not come good, does this mean you are all going to point and says its because he's black? I can't believe the reverse racism going on here in some posts. Racism is racism people, whether against whites or blacks or anything in between. Look at the man, look at the policies, watch his performance, then you know whether you have a good leader. Hype Hype Hype, nothing has changed in the US it seems. Good luck to him getting over you lot first, now if he could just throw out the old guard, reform the medical, academic, and social structure in 4 yrs, we have something, but then you'd probably shoot him if he did that right?

I am one of those voters.  I happen to think McCain would have been a good president, and I admire much of what he has done in office (not all, just much, and that is not bad as far as politicians go.) I think in many ways, McCain is more capable than Obama.  But I think Obama can offer a better vision, and he brings a better degree of hope. So I was undecided until I got the gander of Palin.  Biden vs Palin is no contest. Biden is a capable, rational person, and Palin is categorically not qualified to be the VP. So based on that, I voted for Obama.

I for one wish Obama well but history has proved good people who would like to help the less fortunate do not last long, remember john and robert kennedy.

This is true for Taksin, though he doesn't qualify as a good person in my book.

Congratulation president elect Obama, may you bring about positive changes not only to the US but to the rest of the world as well. YOU CAN DO IT!! I KNOW YOU CAN!! :o

Wrong quote, sorry.

Well it is your one-sided blindness of Bush hatred that made me leap out at you. I am not on either side. Bush was a horrible President with horrible policies. While he was in office he has had the 'benefit' of an equally crappy Legislative branch (controlled by the Democrats in case you didn't know). Congress has an equally low approval rating of the President, so going off the deep end of how Bush screwed everyone is inaccurate.

You fail to see that the two party system has kept anyone decent from running unless you are bought and paid for. It appears that your hatred of Bush has now made you blind to what the Democrats are going to do over the next few years. So now you can be one of their lemmings.

I am glad that billions and billions agree with you (by your estimate). That does not make me for Bush or for Obama, or for McCain for that matter. That makes me an independent thinker. And good riddance to you is an understatement.

I tried to ask this about 5 hours ago.

If this was Moldovia or The Congo this would have been wiped off after 2 posts.

And Puleeeze don't continue with this "...this is the greatest result and benefit the world will ever see" vitriol, as it only highlights the US arrogance shown throughout this thread already.

Just because he is dark skinned doesn't make him 'black', as he is in fact mixed.

Next up, calling Luk-Krungs 'white' if they are elected to something here in Thailand? Or are they basing this race-thing on looks only, not blood?

Anyway, congrats to Obama, now show the people how wrong they where. Even a democrat talking about hope and change will when shows come to show act like all the previous office holders did.

Suddenly, he isn't black any more.

Let's say Obama comes to speak in a Bangkok park.

How many hundreds of thousands of people do you think would turn out to hear him?

Let's face it. He is a superstar, way beyond the international appeal of a normal US president.

Lets say the leader of The Congo, whoever that is, came to speak? Could they fill a conference room?

This is major international news, so sorry if your knee jerk anti-Americanism makes it difficult for you to see that. Just goes to show that Obama isn't a cure all, I guess thats not news.

While he was in office he has had the 'benefit' of an equally crappy Legislative branch (controlled by the Democrats in case you didn't know).
Not true. Only the last 2 years of the 8 year Bush term. Edited by Jingthing

It's been some six hours since the 2008 election finished and yet there has been no coverage of the 2012 race yet! Talk about slow off the mark! How can we be expected to keep up with events?

You're right. Sorry for being so slow.

Clearly, and you heard it here first, it will be Obama versus Bobby Jindal of Louisiana.

All those closet pointy white hat wearers will be in meltdown,it's great.

Only thing that worries me is that most of the people in the House who put up their hands to support Bush's

outrageous policies are still there.

Yes!! Especially all those Dems that have had control of the House and Senate for the past 2-years and are still in control.. There's enough culpability to go around for everyone here, for those that care to take off their rose colored glasses and truly weigh the evidence.

There's an old saying that comes to mind here: "Be Careful what you wish for".

Besides telling the American People and the World, what they wanted to hear, and then convincing them that he would keep his promises..What has he ever done?????

With his background, he shouldn't even qualify for a low level security clearance, and now he will have the highest clearance in the land, with his hand on the nuclear briefcase.

There's something broken in the system that allows that to happen.

I didn't say English language newspapers I said THAI language newspapers. There have been long reports about the elections on Thai language TV today as well .... Not to mention many discussions of what Obama's election means to Thailand (Possibly tougher regulations on imports etc)

I understand that you have issues ... but he;l there was recently a thread on the time change in the UK ... (and it didn't get closed ....) because some people have ties to both countries and the time change directly affects people here (as does the election in the USA)

BTW ... you could easily have a Phil Mickelson thread in the Golf in Thailand sub-forum :o
