Notification Of Address Change

Featured Replies

Hello !

I am on a 3-month non-B visa that I got extended until August 2009, and I got a WP going to the same date. I changed rooms on September 1st and I totally overlooked the notification process. I know I need to go to the Labour Office to notify them of my new address but is there a time limit ? Am I going to get fined or something for having delayed it for so long ? Same for immigration office, is it ok if I do it as the same time as my 90-day notification or should I have done it earlier too ?

Thanks a lot !!

Gaelle

no it's no matter, the next time you'll enter thailand you'll write down your actual adress.

also your owner is supposed to have it done already :o

please ignore my first post, as you are on extension, you have to notify your change of adress the next following day, but your owner is supposed to do it the same day you arrive in his house/appartement.

regarding the fine if any, it should be between 1000-2000 bath as this seems to be a price immigration likes to charge for anything

Officially you have to notify Immigration within 24 hours. It is unlikely that they will enforce this.

When I notified Samui Immigration office they looked at the form and said "what is this". Then threw it in the bin.

This is the form anyway.

The OP asked about notification of the change of address to the Labour Department, ie the office that issued the work permit. I’m afraid I don’t know about this requirement but perhaps somebody else, the owner of a work permit, will have the answer.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

Actually he/she asked about LABOUR OFFICE and IMMIGRATION.

I also have never had a work permit so do not know that one.

I only have experienced it once and that was several years ago since I've only lived in 2 places since starting work. I didn't inform them (Labour) until my contract and WP renewal came up and they didn't comment on it. Actually just a couple of months ago I looked at my WP front page to check my address and realized it still showed the old one. The secretary contacted them and they just said to fill out a form and send it to them but seemed no pressure to do it. It was academic anyway, they add the new address to the back of the book as an addendum which I missed. :o

It doesn't appear to me, based on the above, that it is an issue.

Thanks guys :D

Yes, I was refering to both the Labour Department and the Immigration Office. Actually, when I did my WP, they gave a paper to notify of a change of address... but it's (obviously ?) all written in Thai and my landlord is never here, always have the guard but that's all.

I'll guess I'll just go as soon as I can though. Thanks for the help anyway.

And I'm a girl :o
