Overstaying By 24 Hours

Featured Replies

Hello!

I realize I'm probably being a bit paranoid but I always like to err on the cautious side. Also, I apologize if this topic has been addressed previously - I did a search and couldn't find anything directly relevant.

Anyway...

I'm arriving tomorrow in Thailand from Cambodia and will be issued a 30-Day-Visa-On-Arrival, which should be effective until December 8th; however, I am scheduled to fly out of Bangkok to Bali the following day, at 8am on the morning of December 9th.

Seeing as how I'd only be overstaying by merely 8 hours or so, I'd really rather not pay 1,900 for an extenstion or make a border run. Surely you can see why!

I've read a lot online about a suppposed 24-grace period where the customs officials won't even fine you. But I just want to be certain that I'm not making a foolish decision to not just play by the rules. I can't forsee how I would get pulled over by the cops in those few 8 hours and, if I have bad luck, would they really haul me off to jail for such a brief overstay? And my fine at the airport, at the most, would be about 500 baht, right?

Would you just overstay, if you were in my shoes?

Thanks for any and all opinions!

Cheers!

Airport immigration will not charge for an overstay of less than 24 hours.

I wouldn't worry about such a short overstay.
