O Marriage Visa Renewal

Featured Replies

My O-marriage visa with 1 year extension is coming up and my passport will expire just 1 week short of the one year renewal date for my extension. (Passport expires 11 November 2009 - next O-marriage visa extension would normally expire 19 November 2009.)

Am I correct that what will happen is when I renew my visa extension this year they will now extend it only to 11 November 2009 to match the expiration date of my passport?

Thanks

Yes thats how it will be done.

When you get your new passport they will transfer your extnesion of stay and etc. to your new passport.

They will only give you an extension of stay till the day your permission to stay expires. Once you have a new passport, go to immigration to transfer your stamps and you will get the remaining of the year for free. Can do that at the same time you will go to immigration for a new 1 year extension of stay.

Note that you can ask for an extension of stay in the last 30 days of your permission to stay. Never wise to wait until the last day, in case you need to show additional documents etc. Your extension will always start on the day the permission to stay ends, so you don't lose any days by going early.
