Hi all , First of all I am married to a Thai and a holder of a yellow book ( if it helps ) . Many kind people have explained to me how to extend my 12 month visa to 15 months , but what can I do after this .

I am taking a tefl course just incase , but without a degree I am not sure if I will get a position .

During the 15 months I intend on building a small business to meet the ( tax paid ) 40,000 baht requirement . Looking at things in a negative way , if both of these options fail . What is the best way to stay as long as possible .

What visa can I apply for and how long can I stay .

Thankyou for your help

If you have income from outside Thailand you can use a letter from your consulate to prove income. You didn't mention what your home country is. The requirement to get this is dependent on where you are from.

Also the income can be from either you or your wife or both to meet the 40,000 baht per month income requirement.

It is also possible to show your wife's income by paying tax on income that is not real.

If you are taking a course from a school that meets the requirements you can get an ED visa and extensions that would not require you to leave the country every 90 days like your current visa does,

If you are unable meet the income requirement then it means getting another multiple entry non-o visa from KL or Penang.

If married to a Thai you can get an extension of stay at the immigration office for your region. You need to show a family income of 40,000 a month, that means the income of you and/or your wife together. Apply for it in the last 30 days of your permission to stay. As Joe said, for income from abroad you need to show an embassy letter to confirm your income. For income within Thailand you need to show tax papers.

For requirements see: http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/2notice/rtp606EN.pdf

Point 7.17. Note that for new cases only the 40,000 baht a month option is available.

Have the wife call immmigration first, as every office seems to have it's own requirements. She needs to go with you when applying.
