My wife arrived on her Aust passport as her Thai pp had expired. She will be staying 35 days so does she have to extend visa on aust pp or can she leave on her thai pp. Is the overstay charge still 500bt per day?

Your wife could have entered on her Thai passport as even expired it would have been valid for entry. She should renew it now she is in country. ** there may be an issue as the passport is still officially outside Thailand.

She cannot swap passports whilst in-country.

She should be able to get a 7 day extension at immigration for 1900Baht by showing her outgoing flight tickets.

Your wife could have entered on her Thai passport, as it is no problem for a Thai to enter on an expired passport.

Believe she can get a free extension of stay on show of her Thai pasport or Thai ID-card.

Get an extension on the Aust passport and then leave on that passport. It is paramount to never let any entry stamp lapse and become overstay.

The extension will be no problem at all for a Thai national.
