November 11, 200817 yr I had a look round Chamchuri Square last Sunday and was very impressed for what is essentially a new shopping mall specialising in education (or edutainment). Lots of coffee shops, restaurants as well as book shops, computer shops, educational establishments, gift shops etc. The layout is very attractive with natural light from both the front and the back of the building, and what looks as if might be a great new drinking venue: "The Water Library" located in the huge 'cupola' at the front of the building. This bar is not open yet but should be very interesting, especially if they have happy hours. You can access the mall (basement) directly from the Sam Yan MRT station opposite the Hua Lam Phong Wat on Rama IV.
November 11, 200817 yr Thanks for the reminder. The wife is a Chula grad and we have been meaning to check it out.
November 11, 200817 yr I remember when they were building the cupola, it looked very interesting even then, must visit soon
March 6, 200917 yr I dropped by for the 2nd time today. First time was on a weekend, and as mentioned, it was empty. Today was different... 15:00, Friday, it was packed (mostly with Chula students). Does anybody know when the "Residences" section of Chamchuri will open, or have contact information for it? The offices and mall area of the complex are open, but it appears the residential section hasn't opened yet, and I followed the signs for the office until I came to a locked door with no contact info on the outside...
March 9, 200917 yr i like going for lunch there - the food isn't that brilliant, but penguin spotting is a sport that i really enjoy ;-)
