I have read that it is possible to get a Laos Visa at the Chiang Khong / Huay Xai border quite easily. Just wondering do you have to pay in US dollars? (from what ive read everyones priced it in USD)...cos we are from Australia...

Also would like to know if u have to wait like a day or two or if its "instant".

You can get a visa on arrival there. Cost is 1500 baht or $35 US. One photo is needed.

You wil get it shortly after applying.
