george
Thai PM warns public of bomb threats BANGKOK: -- Thailand's Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat on Tuesday warned the public in the capital to avoid crowds and public areas such as parks after the weekend according to advice from the metropolitan police that violence and explosions could occur in a number of locations. The police, he said, had warned that bombings could erupt in many places throughout Bangkok after November 16 and the government has been watching after several groups had come out on streets and created chaos recently. Police arrested several people possessing explosives in the past four days, Mr. Somchai said, adding that the public should avoid travelling in areas where troubles could occur. The government is concerned because the royal cremation ceremonies of the late Princess Galyani Vadhana, elder sister of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, will still be underway on November 16, he said. Responding to the reports of the parliamentary investigation into the October 7 violence at Parliament, Mr. Somchai said he still did not know the details. Mr. Somchai said he did not even know who were the probers but the investigation could only be genuine if it can be proven scientifically. -- TNA 2008-11-

animatic
Well this is in accord with Kunying Porntip. That should be scientific enough for most people. It is a question of who gave what orders and the outcome. So they now want to blame PAD for disrupting the funeral or at least reducing the numbers of mourners. and messing with Loy Kraytong too. That explains the sudden arrests in short succession of ALEDGED PAD bombers. Transparent manipulation of the public as the governments legitamacy clock ticks down inexorably.. aries27
Is it dangerous to be critical or just give an honest comment (but might not be so pleasant to the current government) about Thailand if you are not a Thai citizen, or is it anything goes in this forum? In my country, it is ok if you are a citizen. You can praise or you can bitch. But when you are a foreigner commenting, the reaction is not always welcomed. Just asking... wrecker
Actually guards form the Plebs Against democracy were arrested with bombs. I suppose PAD have shown that they do not care about democracy and people and they will do anything to get the army involvced. It is a public secret that the PAD wqas also behind the new year bombings a while ago. I suppose it is tough for grown ups in yellow to admit that they have no right to exist. They should form a political party so they can be elected. But I suppose Chamlonmg knows how it feels to get wiped off the map with a party in bangkok and nationwide.. And yes they were about to disrupt the funeral, that is why the former Commander in Chief threatened them last week. Scott
I have a feeling that there is more involvement than just the PAD. The PAD have been holed up at gov't House for a little too long and I think this 'seige' is beginning to make them more paranoid than is necessary. Shola
Why specifically the 16th? Exactly! They seem to have enough info for specific dates what about locations, or even better, perpatrators? Ooh I know what to do lets take away standing ashtrays and make all bins see-through............

cclub75
Ah the famous "invisible hand" and "third party" are back ! It's pathetic to play such childish games, to scare people like that in full Loy Kratong. If Somchai has good intel, it's his duty to take action... But to talk over and over about "third party" is just a thai -bad- joke.
Tim207
Why specifically the 16th? They probably got a hold of a copy of my itinerary. I will be out of Bangkok by the 16th. To risk blowing up tim207 is to risk the rath of ALL GODS. They are just being cautious. On the other hand, it could be something as simple as respect for the Princess. anon467367354
This sounds vaguely reminiscent of the pseudo bomb that was found in the trunk of a car in front of Toxin's house. Not really a bomb, just pieces of stuff, maybe bomb sort of stuff. It's the classic "w" technique of creating some kind of fear, scared people will let you do anything, even take away their rights. This sounds like BS Toxin propaganda. The poor slob has nowhere to go, so create enough of a mess here and maybe he can slip in and make a life by taking some others. The bro-in-law needs to go in my never to be humble opinion, I smell a rat, and this rat smells different from the many other rats.
fxe1200
And then they could just have intelligence on this and are simply warning people in a responsible manner! ...it just leaked from some intelligence source in Bangkok, that the bombs will be placed inside the Ministry of Justice aiming to destroy all collected evidence of newly recovered cases of corruption as well as the evidence of the ten charges against Thaksin, which are not on trial yet. Sure thing this is classified information, so don't tell anyone!

Plus
16 Nov is a funeral day, Somchai is worried that someone might disrupt the ceremonies. Nothing unusual about it. His intel is supposed to be good - after all it's pro-government UDD that is known for attacking the monarchy, and it's pro-government bomber Kittya who specifically threatened with daily bomb attacks. PAD is also removing its barricades for the ceremony which might leave them unprotected.

Tyre walls been blown up, people with parts of their legs missing. Some other police helping the injured. And who ordered this to be done…your hero? These pictures weren't shown on the TV. You are absolutely correct about this. The people who were hurt and KILLED are the people of the PAD. The police were shooting ( as instructed by there new boss which was off-course just appointed by the PM ) at the crowd with live bullets and throwing bombs as SHOWN on the pictures and video. The funeral was even attended by the Princess and shown on national television. And the PAD doesn’t have to pay 500 Baht to the people to show up at the demonstrations as some other protest groups do. I was there together with my wife a few times at the BKK demonstrations and my wife knows a little bit about what she talks about.
AlexLah
Well if you are one of those grey sheeps that believe everything your government is telling you, think twice and smell the coffee. You remember recently they announced to get a multi million dollar firewal, guess what There is already filtering stuff in place. (check how they blocked certain video's from YT). You can check this yourself with a bit of IT knowledge. All mobile and landline traffic is monitored for keywords in many diff languages with help of the greatest country in the world (as they believe). Just fearmongering, the same as the Bush administration has been doing. Nothing will happen on the 16 th. Just another day.

DonGato
Bombs... bombs... bombs... what a pain in the... How come is it that this guys do not understand how bad they actually do to the country and its innocent people that has no part or foul in everything...? Isn't it telling of suspected places for bombs like telling the bad guys to "PLEASE" change locations, dates and all what it has to do with everything? This is annoyingly sad...
