MMR
I was planning on Lumpini this year, but friends are saying Chao Phraya. Thoughts? Recommendations?

bkkjames
Here's a tip. Don't look too far downstream, unless you want to see your Kratong being picked up and slammed against the side of a boat to dislodge your money before being thrown back into the river. MMR
There is a Bangkok forum for Bangkok related stuff. Granted, I was talking about Bangkok. But, I'm pretty sure it is celebrated throughout Thailand. Perhaps someone has a good spot in *insert your city here* to share.

Koo82
In my opinion, doesn't matter where, as long as there's a river. Btw, don't use styrofoam, metal clips and strings to make your kra thong. Use banana, tooth pick, bread and flowers, etc.
Briggsy
The traffic anywhere near a good loy-ing spot will be too heavy. I recommend doing it in your bath. If no bath, do it in the swimming pool in your apartment 'cos it's too much hassle trying to get anywhere through the traffic.

If no bath, do it in the swimming pool in your apartment 'cos it's too much hassle trying to get anywhere through the traffic. In my building there are explicit instructions saying this is forbidden. That being the case I recommend taking your Kratong with you to your nearest Soapy. Edited November 12, 2008 by bkkjames
Koo82
Here I see a very touching scene that in the cold river, poor children went down to help you with the krathong to make sure it goes out with the flow. They hope to take the money in the krathong or some tips.

It's probably very pleasant in smaller places.

Perhaps Winnie The Poo Kwai (got a ring to it, doesn't it ) doesn't have water where he lives and can't play along, hence the bad mood.
