Like tc I don't know Thai standards and I also don't know domestic ones but the rules we use in industrial applications are 41 degrees maximum angle to the horizontal and 8" (200mm) rise / 9" (230mm) run. This standard has been used in industrial facilities in Thailand if that's any use and these standards are set according to international safety standards. Obviously you can always go shallower angle and put them in a sweeping spiral around your lounge to allow you and your wife to make a Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers style entry to your next party. :D

Virtually every Thai stairway I have used covers all the possibilities as every rise and every run seem to be different. :o

Reckon I'd stick with UK numbers in the absence of anything local, Building Regulations Document K Covers Stairs in England and Wales :-

Private stairs intended to be used for only one dwelling with a maximum rise of 220mm and a minimum going of 220mm. A maximum pitch of 42° is stipulated for domestic stairs.

A handy website to help with the sums http://www.stairplan.co.uk/riseandgo.htm
