In Search For New Governments Headquarters

Non-violent is the excellent word here.

They only bring bombs in and hide. They only beat people to death. But they said someone else did, not them.

Did the reds receive any funeral fund?

Government is searching for new location for Government's headquarters

BANGKOK: -- The Thai government is searching for a new location for the Government's headquarters, as anti-government protesters have shown no sign of ending their seizure of Government House, according to Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat.

Somchai said the protesters had seized Government House for far too long now.

He had no intention to prevent anyone from protesting but for security reasons, it would be wise to have a new Government headquarters. He added once the protesters dispersed from the current Government House, it would take a long time to renovate the place.

The premier had not decided on a location for his new headquarters, but it should be located in Bangkok. He said the current Government House could be used as a museum to feature the chronicles of the Thai government since 1932.

The People's Alliance for Democracy or PAD has occupied the Government House site since late August and refuses to leave until Prime Minister Somchai steps down.

With the PAD memebers as exhibits, what a great museum that would make! :D

Have to get them stuffed first :o

This is red and yellow mixed, the only logical new color.

Thailand</B>

If HRM would wear this one day problem solved.

All Thais would jump on the color and it would be every where.

Time to nip down to the SET and invest in an orange dye factory then ?

I for one have both good and bad things to say about every PM since I came to Thailand, Plus, Hammered, Animatic, H90 are 4 such people with views so anti Thaksin I rarely read what you write now. I see that as unfortuneate, as there is nothing left to debate or read........ hence my reduced post count recently!

You missed out sriracha john who appears to have a good collection of photos and video (I watched 1 video from him so far) of famous people.

He still cannot provide anything to prove that Khun Thaksin has girlfriend(s) as he said. Khun Thaksin is not in Thailand so it is hard for someone to produce another video like what they did to Khun Somchai. :D

I'm still on-topic. The PAD hate the current government including Khun Thaksin so they are sleeping in the Ex-Government House with used condoms.

What is your obsession with condoms?

Why are there used condoms near the PAD?

They don't just protest eh.

If you need to ask what they are for, well...

Well not pre-owned of course,

but I have put one down, fresh from the box... er.. CARTON,

when camping once to make the rock for a pillow less bothersome.

They ARE soft. Padding is padding.

Folded once would make any curbstone more ear friendly for night of repose.

I have not seen what this all is referencing to, since I rarely ever see ASTV if ever.

Thaksin did some good things, but in the balance today not enough to matter.

I fear his future actions more than hate him, I feel sorry for him in general.

But you guys just rant off topic in this thread, have fun.

ANIMATIC sums it up pretty well! Thaksin DID do some good things for the Thai people & for Thailand ----- but he became an intolerable embarrassment. His arrogance and greed blew out to an amazing level. The once smart man became stupid. Stupid .... AND he began to believe he was immune to the restraints imposed by any intelligent society. Dangerous! Whatever it was..... Thaksin caused his own downfall -----

Thailand will be a better country without Thaksin !!

To date he has been convicted (5 - 4) of a technical error in paperwork ---- so I would respectfully request the "frothing-at -the-mouth ..... lycch'em high " mob to get just a little realistic. Calls for Interpol---- Israeli hit-squads ---- deportation --- or maybe beheading ------ seem to be a slight overreaction. This is not the crime of the century ---- it probably ranks just below shop lifting. He is without a doubt a grub..... but....

This could be a good time to reduce the "Thaksin is coming back to get everyone" hysterical alerts to a mere yellow --- a man with his assumed wealth ( and influence over a group of cronies ) needs watching ---- but that's all!! He is yesterdays man. The courts have (and will in the future) made sure of that.

Without doubt the greatest disservice Thaksin has rendered to his country is that by his actions he has been directly responsible for causing support for a bunch of opportunists like PAD. With a half decent prime minister their rat-bag philosophies would never have gotten past the comic pages. For this alone Thaksin should suffer the strongest condemnation. Should the crazies even achieve half their aims --- I shall be calling for Thaksin to be burned at the stake !!!

Hmm, they only need to make sure that his threats of revolution do not materialise.

How exactly he plans to use red shrit crowds to overturn his convictions and stop asset case from progressing is anyone's guess, but it can turn very nasty if they try to overthrow judicial system.

I would have to say the bomb thrown in the court justices home is just a teaser.

If this shows the mindset of his Red Shirts, what happens when he starts naming names?

Intimidation directly of all who oppose him? Fits his personal style.

Bombs for all independent judges? well the DAAD UDD don't seem shy about this.

More grenades lobbed at PAD? Sure easy call on that one. Slap the watchdog till it's silent.

He didn't 'technically' screw up paperwork Tig,

I agreed with most all you said.

The paperwork was in proper order.

But he 'technically' IGNORED the law, and signed for his wife to buy the land,

directly in contradiction to a LAW that I knew existed.

Not a paperwork screw up. That's just not so.

If I knew it existed and what it meant, he surely knew it.

He signed the papers from the seat of power believing he had

co-opted the checks and balances enough to pull it off.

In the short term that proved right,

but in the LONG term it came back and bit his ass.

He is not a danger because of this conviction per se,

he is a clear and present danger because of he avowed intentions to fight it out.

As Plus points out, the options for this fight are not so much legal,

he has dropped that tactical angle. But a social upheaval to dislodge those against him

would be the most logical happening. They have the upper hand as long as the PUBLIC

thinks they are holding the lid on things. If that erodes too much....

If the playing field gets wider and more violent, then Thaksin may get more barganing power.

We are yet to see his next move other than a speach...

no clue if he wants to disrupt Somchai's greatest hour hosting ASEAN,

but the speach on the 14th sounds ill timed if that's the case. 4 days prior.

At the moment the man grows scarier... He is going for broke, almost literally.

Consideration for the little people has never been a high priority in his mind.

Pawns to move for the masters gain. Oops Rook takes Pawn, sorry you're sidelined,

er dead...

Tig, today all the media is reporting on his announcement of political fightback.

How can you possibly not notice it?

I understand that you might think it's no big deal, there's nothing they can do anyway. Fair enough, I also hope that his phone-ins won't be actual incitement to riot, but I don't see what else he could achieve by simply speaking. In less than a month PPP might be gone for good, or half the Cabinet forced to resign over Preah Vihear court case.

Maintaining the status quo is not going to do him any good.

Let's see what his offensive play is.

You may be correct.... i just think it is more likely that the Thaksin supporters

are reacting (without divine oversight) to what they see as blatant politically inspired persecution ----

and -----in that they are certainly correct! I believe Thaksin is guilty---

but his enemies have certainly been working overtime to ensure that

any transgression is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. This enthusiasm is

hardly endorsed by a weak 5 --- 4 decision in this very minor matter.

Additionally the "crime" was more one of arrogance than any greed.

Here we seem to agree. I really believe he gave no import to this signing ----

he probably felt he was above it. So yes GUILTY --- but not of much.

As Thaksin has been the only PM to actually try to improve the lot

of a large minority of this countries population. As Thaksin has been the

the only PM to not treat this minority with ignore & disdain

---- it is hardly surprising that many in this country feel

well towards him. I understand you feel these actions were simply a ploy

------- but they worked ---- and re instilled a feeling of worth & pride into a

group ignored for far too long.

about PAD ---the less said the better !!

Seem to have drifted a bit off topic here ? Getting back to it , if they do decide to relocate govournment house it could be a good thing. If they were to locate it in the suburbs then at least if some people wanted to protest it would not make life difficult for everyone else who just want to get on with their lives. As for the old building, it has character and would make a good museum which would be of benefit to both Thais and Tourists. They are going to have to spend a lot of money refurbishing it anyway so while they are at it......good time for a change :o

Plus---For you I tried to use yellow---- but yellow is no good! Kindly excuse the much better red!

At least it is able to be understood !! :o

Not exceed tarring selected individuals with the same brush?

Wake up, Tig, it's a war out there - one dead, twenty four injured after a bomb was thrown at PAD camp.

The reds WILL resort to violence, they have no other options.

Today there's an interview with Jatuporn in the Nation. All he says is: "We will fight for justice by all means necessary".

What is his version of the justice? What he aims to achieve? He doesn't say.

With all the far thinking Ministries we have, why do they not just turn the problem over to the insurance company who provides coverage on government buildings etc. Please don't tell me they missed the oppurnity to purchase coverage from some of their business friends. If this latter is the case, I will be disappointed in that this may be a missed potential by the powers that be.

Question: Why do we have to build a new Government House? This shows how weak the current PM is. What the PAD is doing is illegal but it is happening for so long until we think it's acceptable.

Nothing was show on TV of PAD doing anything but self defence in Sept.

The guy on the ground has a MACHETTE in his hand,

DAAD attacked PAD and lost the fight.

The two former PAD guards with bomblets and alleged PAD ID's

were fired by PAD well priory for violence and incitment to violence.

And were obviously used to discredit PAD a week later.

It was blatantly a set up. They weren't in PAD territory, they were on the street,

And nothing said about their whereabouts before OR AFTER...

What? No court arraignment for trial, no bail attempts,

no lawyers for both sides talking to the press,

where ARE these two alleged 'Pad Bombers"...

completely disappeared off the map... because they are FAKES...

Unless they are convicted of actually being PAD bombers,

they are only alleged to be such. But we see NOTHIN to do with courts at all.

If you believe this disinformation campaign you will be fooled.

One of you must lucid posts yet Koo.

There is no need to build a new government house.

It could be an nice excuse for graft,

but more it's a response to lost face.

The PAD encampment at GH is not infinite, they will leave sometime, most likely in a non-violent way.

Violence will only entrench them further and so horrify the world that the government WILL fall

and all attached disgraced forever... That is not a solution.

Only one man holds the key to normalicy and he wants power at all costs.

So here we are.
