What Do You Love About Thailand?

Featured Replies

So many people on TV complain and whine about the things that really piss them off about living here. But what do you really love about Thailand?

As for me:

I love the weather.

I love that the Thai's get into Christmas even though it isn't their religion.

I love it when the taxi drivers sing to me.

I love the Thai kids I take to eat ice-cream every week or so after school.

I love my Thai friends.

I love the mai pen rai attitude.

I love the way that Thai's are happy to share anything with you.

I love going to the temple.

I love the way my friends go to the fortune teller in the middle of the day for no real reason.

I love the way that if I go to a friends village and we decide to do some sightseeing, it seems the WHOLE village will pile into the back of the car and come along for the ride too.

I love the fact that my ex-laundry lady still really cares about my welfare.

I love yum pla duk foo.

I love the smiles.

I love the fact that I am never short of a rubber band. :o

i love the weather, the thai humour, thai outlook on life, thai food etc

i love thailand

Strange this....

Only last night I had a dream about posting a "What do you like about Thailand" topic...

And this morning, voila... here it is! :o

Love the list, but I'd also add I love the way the Thais go out of their way to be helpful.

Buddhism: if shit happens, it isn't really shit

Islam: if shit happens, it is the will of Allah

Catholicism: if shit happens, you deserve it

Judaism: why does this shit always happen to us?

You guys's list made my day! I'm glad that my mother land's loved by those who came so far away just to live in that LOS. :D

I didn't like Thailand for so many reasons... The grass is always greener at the other side... I'm now here at Down Under and have realized how much I actually love Thailand. It's not that I don't like it here, but living somewhere else makes me miss what I used to have in Thailand. There's no other places like LOS!

Here's my list.

1. I love the beautiful beaches.. Phi Phi's always been my fave.. sigh :D

2. I love the fact I can find something yummy to eat 24/7

3. I love the Weekend market.. (The bigest Weekend market in Asia!)

4. I love it that the lime's cheap!

5. I love the Green eating mago! (Keaw savoey)

6. I love it when the shopping malls close at 10 pm. (not 5 pm. like here!)

7. I love it when I can have a cup of ice cold coffee anytime/any season without getting my brain frozen ~~~!

8. I love it even more when I know how much people from the other part of the word love it! :o TIT!

Must say that I love most of those things too, I say most as I would like to point out one thing that really dissapoints me is the fact that, as it gets near to Chrimbo and all the decorations come out all the supermarkets and Dept. stores are playing 'Jingen Ben' etc and the whole Xmas atmos is really going and i'm getting excited! Woo Hoo it's chrimbo! and then.......big drum roll as 25th approaches........... BAM!

NOTHING BLOODY HAPPENS!!!

Every1 goes to work as normal, the kids go to school, no one gives pressys, as if the whole build up was for nothing!

It always feels so wierd as to why the big build up for nout!

Aaaanyway I love it all except for that!

(maybe should have made a sub forum 'I love it all except for...!')

Hah!

Jingen Ben, Jingen Ben, Jingen alda weeh!!

I know what you mean Shola, but I think it's more of a New Year thing for Thai people. Christmas is just an excuse to start early!

I love the way thai people do everything together. I used to love my own solitude, but now I can't imagine spending too much time alone.

I love being able to walk almost barefoot everyday in flip flops (except now - I have a job with a dress code :o

I love how my local food vendors have almost adopted me as their local farang, and continue to feed me things that I haven't ordered for no charge.

I love how my som tam lady admonished me last week when I was sick and out too late.

I love the business-like attitude of many a soi dog (I call them soi dogs with jobs)

I love the simple sweetness of many Thai people

I love green mangos! (Never thought I would say this)

I postponed the possibility of going back to the west so I could have more time to adapt to the thought of life without som tam. I don't know if I can.

The second most important aspect of Thailand that I really love is my family and all of the friends who I consider family that live in or are from Thailand.

The 3rd most important aspect of Thailand that I truely love is that I am made to feel 100% accepted and a part of Thailand everywhere I go. (except for when it comes to bargaining in the markets) 55555

I really enjoy the Thai culture as a whole - their hospitality, warmth and passion.

As a foreigner, if you just extend yourself a little bit you receive 300% back in ways you often neglect to think about because of the hectic lifestyle outside of Thailand.

I really enjoy all of the food from each part of the country - I am talking from the kitchens of family, friends and in areas where only Thai typically go - not tourist areas.

The scenery is absolutely breath taking everywhere you turn.

The sense of history and tradition is very rich and meaningful. Getting to know some history explains alot about Thai traditions and attitudes.

The most important aspect of Thailand that I love dearly is 'pan ra ya pom'! Because of her I have never been happier or more fulfilled!

Pom khob Thailand tee sut !

:o
