What Actually Constitutes A "troll"

Featured Replies

Not wanting to be a pain in the ar$e but what actually does make one a troll?

I always thought it may be the description of a poster that intentionally submits a post that is inflamitory to a certain creed or race. Or opens a topic that could result in content of racism or unfair critism. Is the slur of "troll" a result of a perceived attack on a certain race or even worse and perceived affront to the virtuaity of an anonymous cyber mother?

Tonight it is a real puzzle to me...I am ignorant in what makes a troll.....if the mods were perhaps ..Mexican or indeed Thai, would one who brings to question an Englishman's character be considered a troll?

If an Englishman were to critisise a Peruvian would he be subject to the Peruvian Troll Patrol on an open forum on a Thai Website aimed at expats of any nationality living in Thailand?

It seems to be a curious authority indeed, a bit like "Reds under the Beds"...brand a man a communist and therefore he must be..after all he doesn't bow to our idealism.

and another one bites the dust .... three in one night! It may be a record!

I'll get my coat. :o

For me, its someone ho makes a post, simply for its own effect or to create chaos rather than partake in reasonable conversation.

I still have my bottle of Crown.... I'll wait it out.....

2) Excessive, aggressive posts against other members, moderators and admin; or flaming will not be tolerated. 'Flaming' is best defined as posting or responding to a message in a way clearly intended to incite useless arguments, rants, and/or for launching personal attacks, insulting, being hateful, useless criticism, name calling, swearing and other bad behavior or comments meant to incite anger.

Do not post inflammatory messages on the forum, or any attempt to disrupt discussions to upset its participants. The word, or its derivative, "trolling", is used to describe such messages or the act of posting them.

I would have thought he might have had a bit of an inkling after 3 years of TV membership. :D
