Family Friendly Hotel/resort Advice

My mate is bringing his wife, and 3 kids to Thailand for a beach type holiday. Any ideas as best place to go. He has decided that I am an expert despite me repeatedly telling him I know shit all about the beaches here as I work in Isaan.

Soooooooooo, any experts out there. A place that can have a few excursions, a beach, not too much in the way of er... "extra guest" facilities, and just generally relaxing, but not crawling with tourists. If there is such an animal.

At this stage I am looking for a place, I can then organise a hotel (what does he think I am, a bloody travel agent? don't answer that one, I know)

He is coming for Easter, so late March early April, but missing Songkran.

Money, he has got a fair whack, so decent hotels, 3 star plus are on the cards.

Why not try Sai Kaew Resort on Ko Samet? It's really nice there. I work in the travel industry and take family groups there all the time. The beach is safe, not as many men with their 'Thai girlfriends' there, and they have excursions to offer you.

They have 2 bedroom family units, too, which is probably cheaper than getting two rooms. TV for the kids, really clean, great bathrooms, lovely staff, and the best breakfast in Thailand (big call, I know).

You can look and book on the web http://www.aopraoresort.com

This is one of the best places I have stayed at near Bangkok. One would not notice it's only a short taxi ride to the "Disneyland for Adults". Has it's own beach, the waters there are the ceaniest in Pattaya.

In the terrace wing I think there was a possibility to get connecting rooms.

Plenty of excursions to the nearby islands, also to the fenomenal Pattaya Zoo, straight from the hotel.
