Taking Thai Electrical Products Home (to Oz)

Featured Replies

I know my electical gear works in thailand with the aid of a simple adaptor, but what about the reverse (using thai electrical gear in Australia)?

Tried to buy a hotpot/sukyaki doo-dad here without luck, so I've asked a friend to buy and post me one from Thailand, adaptors and warranty aside there won't be any issues will there?

cheers.

They will work fine in Australia . . . Mine always has . . . . .

Terrific, thanks Checker.

AFAIK the biggest issue would have been the frequency, but as both countries are on 50Hz, it should be fine. A slight difference in % terms is not a problem.

yep sure do, just need adaptors or do as i do ,remove the lead & use the three pin aus type piece of cake

Wise course of action - generally Thai domestic appliances are fitted with power cables that offer one layer of plastic insulation between your fingers and the mains voltage. Enlightened countries require items sold within their borders that they have at least two such protective layers on mains powered equipment. On the shipping documentation you might be wise to mention it is for your own private use only.
