Is there any direct train from Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok?

I looked at the KTMB timetable, and it looked like there was a ridiculously long layover at Butterworth...

Do you know if I can buy a through ticket and make reservation all the way from KL, or do I have to pitch up at Butterworth and hope for ticket availability?

Any information on how heavily loaded the trains are in that direction (KL -> Bangkok)?

THe SRT timetable seems to have two trains per day from Butterworth, the KTMB timetable only one - and the timing suggests its not either of the two SRT trains...

Thanks very much for any info

of course there is no through train-excepot for the 1/week (but I dont know if that still runs) the very expensive tourist-tour Eastern+Oriental.

The overnight KTMB train runs partly on the Haad yai-with quicker connections-but still waits. efectively this trip always cost you 2 nights.

IN Malaysia you can only book tickets starting IN Malaysia-but as for now going To Thailand does not seem the ig bottleneck.
