Visa Change For Married?

Recommended Posts

Stickman reports more changes to the rules and says the requirement is now either 40.000 baht income a month (i thought it was 60.000 before?) or just 400.000 in the bank. Can anyone confirm this as I might go for this instead of an extension based on 800.000 in the Bank. From what my buddy tells me though if you go for the marriiage based on monthly income it is more hassle, photo's iwith mrs n every possible combination and he's been here doing it for years.

It does not matter whether you use the income method or money in the bank option the requirements are the same.

Yes some immigration offices want photos of you and the wife around the house and etc. You will also have a 30 day wait after applying while they consider your application.

See 2.18 of the new police order for info.

pre - October 2006 with the 400,000 baht money-in-the-bank method for extensions based on marriage was there the one month delay that happened afterwards with the 40,000 monthly income method? Would showing the 400,000 in the bank expedite the extension application process like the 800,000 for a retirement visa extension or is the extension category (based on marriage to a thai lady) the reason for the different processing time?

The Retirement Extension is given imediatley .

The Marriage Extension takes 30 days. It makes no difference if it is Income or Cash in the bank.

i like to go for the marriage visa. is it possible to apply with a "visa" exemption? or do i need a tourist visa or non O?

thank's naamjai

A Visa Exempt is possible if you have at least 21 days remaining on it. With the new 15 day entry rule it is not going to be so easy.
