Two German tourists arrested for having sex in ancient Ayutthaya temple

AYAUTTAYA: -- -Two German tourists were caught in the act and fined Bt500 each for having sex inside an ancient temple in this central province Monday.

The couple were found by an official of National Historical Park of Ayutthaya having sex on a wall of the Srisanphet Temple at 12:30pm.

They stopped when the park official, Phaithoon Puengthong, blew his whistle while running toward them.

The couple were handed over to police and were fined Bt500 each before released.

Yeah, and those temples have been desacrated so many times already anyways. Cannot compare with St Peter in Rome, or whatever active temple of whatever religion : we are talking about ruins in a park.

... Which remind me of some nice church ruins in the south of France, were I spent lovely times with my sweetheart of the moment.... and no cop to break the romance ^^

Assuming they knew it was the temple of forbbidden love. Many of these places are just ruins overgrown with weeds. They were on a wall, not in the temple itself which would suggest they were just over sexed and not trying to desecrate a temple.

There may be things that you do not agree with the way Thais live their lives - but the example you gave is exagerated. Having sex at a sacred temple should be punishable by flogging.
