I find it pretty interesting that a few of you would relocate to Cambodia or Vietnam, have things changed there in the last 2 years?

Where would you live in Cambodia? Phnom Penh ? The ugliest city in the world.

What would you do for work? Or would you spend your last days between the walkabout pub and sharkys? or maybe k11  :D  :D

If you were going there to clear landmines or make artificial limbs I applaud you  :D

Vietnam? communist government that listens into your phonecalls and you cannot drive due to fear of being aimed at every two minutes. The place is full of low lifes and misfit relics left over from the war. I hated the place on every occasion I had to be there.

Each to their own, I suppose, but Id rather be with a fat bird in Brisbane  :D   :D

Tornado; a friend of mine has an excellent business in Vung Tao, personally, the place is not for me.

Mt comment was that I can get a job - of unknown duties in Cambodia, I speak Khmer, and can work for the government.

Mind you, well up north and no where near there. My house is in Surin, and well a job a few Km from home is still a job a few km from home. :o

Who's talking Crap?? Did I say I 'know' the place or did I say I have no desire or inclination to return there? I also said that things have probably changed there... but judging by your reply the Aussie attitude is still the same.

Bit touchy arent we! Do you enjoy surmising everything around or is it just a subconcious defence mechanism? :o

I'm a Melbourne girl and would consider going back there, but Perth is the next best option if Melbourne wasn't a goer.

I would definitely choose Bali over Australia, though.  I will always consider myself Australian, but can't see myself living there for the rest of my life.  Nice place to visit, but I lived there for over 30 years, and that's enough (for now anyway).

Never say never.

I know a coupld of girls in their 30's from melbourne who have set up camp overseas, seems quite a few ladies like to shack up with balinese guys, one I know has a kid with one of the guys over there, although the kid is primarily in OZ.

Personally Bali has about as much to offer as Burma, sitting on the beach all day gestating isnt my idea of life. There isnt much else there though!

The good thing about Thailand is you can live quite a few completely different lifestyles just by moving around, Up North, Issarn, Pattaya, Phuket, Kanchanaburi way, even god forbid, Bangkok! :o

I really enjoy Malaysia, there is heaps to do, if you have friends there, especially locals it can be great fun, I had just as much fun and nightlife there as I did in Thailand, like everywhere, just do your homework and find out where to go. KL is an easy city to get around if you know it, there's alot of great accomodation just outside of KL, the government loves to give you massive incentives to stay and spend your money there, driving is easy, stick to the rules you are pretty well left alone, and Penang is a short flight away, internal flights are very cheap, 100 ringgit will get you to Penang, about 1K baht.

The whinging pom nickname is still rife in Oz, Racism is worse here in queensland than in europe, the aussie worker is the laziest in the world bar None!! average worker throws at least 40 sickies a year, so they can leave the poms alone, The police here can teach the thai police a thing or two about corruption and brutality!!and not to forget paedophiles, Queensland has one of the highest rates of Paedophilia in the World, apart from all this Oz is the land of opportunity, we have enjoyed our time here, but it is not the place to retire too, Nignoy

Boris! You really have no ###### idea. Have you ever been to Oz? i doubt it. You are a ###### <deleted> who knows ######c all. I think you are the creepy loser mate,

Actually, ignoring if I may your coarse spluttering, I know Australia extremely well and have visited extensively usually staying with Australian friends.I think Australia really is a great country and am thinking about buying an apartment in Melbourne (St Kildas). The point I was making was not about Oz at all but about scummy little Brits who foul up the place, and don't even have the courage to be proud of their UK origins. Most dinky di Ozzies have the same negative view of these Pommie wastrels and I don't blame them.I would kick these creepy losers all out (and out of Thailand too if I had the chance)

Actually Boris, what piddles us off the most is the Poms that wont let go of Mother UK's apron strings and assimilate into the Oz way of life....Not talking about all Poms, just the ones that bring the attitude with them.

Well, after a few weeks of thinking I WOULD, in fact, have to leave Thailand, I think I've scored myself a new job today! So, I won't need to think of living anywhere else for some time yet!

Not 100% yet, but I think I'm gonna get a nice Christmas present on Friday!

Yay!

The average Aussie takes 10 days sickies per year as that is all most awards allow...5 with a certificate and 5 without. Not even a lazy Aussie would miss a months pay.... :o

Aussies dont have a problem with most Poms....just the whinging ones..... :D

As for the paedophilia.....pretty safe comment there..."one of the highest rates"...would you like to define that more ????.....Paedophilia is more prevalent in Europe, Russia and Asia than anywhere in the world.

Every police force in the world has corrupt cops and officials......Oz is no worse or better than anywhere else.

So you enjoyed it here.....but wouldnt want to live here.....No wuckin furries....get on the plane and go home...... :D:D:D

*sigh*

Yet another thread in the forum where some of you guys like to aim low at the farang females...this time, it is the 'weight' thing.

I, as a farang guy, have now felt the need to speak out against this sexism....to be honest, I have observed more overweight farang men than overweight farang women.

So, don't forget......some of the farang women living in Thailand might very well prefer slim Thai men to overweight farang guys.

Works both ways, fellows !

As an employer of sometimes over 60 Australian staff in Brisbane , I have had experience at first hand of aussie work ethics, my statement about sickies was played down and not exagerated in any way, some of my staff averaged more than 70 days a year,no such thing in Australia as fair play,Always the first to have a go at cheats and scandals in other countries, but at home it gets covered up and heaven help anyone one who mentions it, when was the last time a prisoner was beaten to death by the police in UK or shot for arguing with police, its a common occurance here in Queensland if you are the wrong colour, Bur Crikey its still a great place!! Nignoy

I totally agree with you I have lived in Oz since 1970 and since 1985 employed 100s of people and by and large they have been good productive reliable people.

Oz is a great but not perfect place. Why all the whining from previous posters. Its horse shit.

32 suicides after UK porn raids

From correspondents in London

December 21, 2004

THIRTY-TWO men have committed suicide following their arrests in connection with Britain's biggest probe into child pornography, a newspaper has reported.

Many were family men who stood to lose their jobs and marriages if convicted of pedophilia offences, and they could not cope with the shame of arrest, the Daily Mail reported.

The men were among thousands of suspects held during Operation Ore, the British end of a US investigation launched in 2002 into a pay-per-view child pornography website based in Texas, the paper reported.

So far 7200 Britons have been identified, with 3729 of them arrested. Some 1600 had been charged and 1200 convicted.

Details of the suicides were released by the Association of Chief Police Officers, but the paper quoted association spokesman Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Hyde as saying the suicides would not deter officers from enforcing the law.

Dont talk crap Ravisher, been in OZ back in the 60's so you think u know it huh!  :o

Oz sucks, stay away, its horrible, you best to think of somewhere else to go other than OZ, go to New Zealand, its wonderful over there, all the stories of raining 364 days a year is a lie told to keep migrants away, dont be afraid of NZ'ers they dont rape sheep very often, you will be fine!

Reminds me of a joke, whats the biggest muscle in a sheep??????? a New Zealander!

An Irishman and a Kiwi were driving down a country road when the Kiwi suddenly slams the brakes on and pulls over to the side. Whats the matter? said Paddy, his mate replied,'look over there, theres a sheep with it's head stuck in the fence'. Whats that got to do with us? says Paddy. Come on yells his mate, I'll show you! So the Kiwi jumps outa the ute and runs down to the paddock, hops over the fence, drops his pants and has his way with the sheep.

After he's finished he yells out, c'mon Paddy its your turn! So paddy trots down to the paddock and comes up next to the sheep, drops his pants, gets down on his hands and knees and sticks his head through the fence!!

Moral of the story, dont for ##### sake move back to Ireland!! :D  :D

The joke I heard at school.

its what they call...tall poppies syndrom :D

According to a recent report from the International Labour Organisation, Australians are among the hardest workers in the world.

AUSTRALIA is a land of workaholics, ranking with the US and rivalling the Japanese as the world's hardest workers.

In its first report on excessive working hours in industrialised countries, the International Labour Organisation says one in five employees in Australia, New Zealand and the US works at least 50 hours a week.

Australian employees work twice as hard as Europeans, with just a 10th of European workers putting in such long working hours. Only in Japan, where 28.1 per cent of employees work 49 hours or more a week and New Zealand 21.3 per cent, do people work longer.

The report has come as little surprise to the ACTU, which says that while Australians do not mind hard work, they are struggling to maintain a balance between family life and growing work demands.

I think if you ran a search for UK workers, you'd be in second place. Perhaps it never came up because we're lumped in with the European 48-hour maximum which doesn't fully apply to UK employees who cannot be forced to work over this amount of hours, but usually do. Personally, I'm glad to see the back of 100-hour plus weeks but was always pleased when pay day came. Problem is, so many people in the UK are obsessed with earning as much as possible (and more often than not, have to) and consequently giving up so much of their time.

here we go again....if you pay them partial salary and cash...yes they will!

i had my workers sometimes work 60 or more hours per week...at their own free will may i add!

anyway would never go back to that...love my relaxed non-union/tax free life style too much to go back to that crap :o
