My EVDO is working great except that big downloads were a major problem. It would download at a fast speed and then just stop. I tried several free download managers with Safari, Firefox, IE and Chrome. All combinations had the same problems. Out of desperation I downloaded a trial version of Internet download manager. It's a pay for program. So far, no broken download. Here's a screen shot of the speed;

I use orbit downloader which is freeware and doesn't seem to have any problems with iffy connections.

I often start download at home (on GPRS), then just disconnect my gprs, shut down, go to work, boot up again and hook up to our wifi (3 Mbps ADSL) and orbit picks up straight away with downloading.
